Oregon Coast Part 3 'Evening Campfire'

Oregon Coast Part 3
'Evening Campfire'
7-16-2010
Yup... that's right... we are still on day one here. We made it to our destination: Netart's Bay Oregon
Grandpa Davolt is talking to JD (duh)

The kids found a little spot to play. This drift wood/root thingy kept them pretty entertained for quite a while.
Hi, I'm JD. I love everyone and they love me back! (Unless I'm grumpy or teething, but we don't have to talk about that right now.)
It looks so fun on the other side of the fence.
JD has to share the title of 'Cutest Little Boy' with a couple boys. This is one of them.
Some of the fam trying to stay warm around the campfire.
I think everyone had a turn keeping track of JD for a little bit. Here Grandpa is following him around while he explores.

Jesse built an amazing camp fire (one of his awesome talents).   Just perfect for roasting marshmallows. Look at those coals!!!

This was a precious moment. Such joy on their faces.

One quick Saturday

This past Saturday (5-15-20) Jeff, and Erin were here for just one day. We had the whole family together. So we decided to go to a park (Eagle Island State Park) and then a Hockey game at night. We had a lot of fun but it was a VERY long day.

The day started at David and Melody's house

Everyone is making sure JD
doesn't fall in!

Awe! So cute!

Uncle Jeff and Aunt Erin

Awe again! Its us!

We walked ALL the way around the lake!! If I
had known that was the plan I would have
waited for them somewhere in the shade.
Oh well... it was exercise.

Ok... So I believe this is a goat!! Yup a goat!
Someone was cooking this in the park!!! PUKE!

Hockey Game
Steelheads v. Cincinnati
0-1 final

Brian W. was able to get us all free passes to the game! Thanks B!

I love my daddy!!

Erin saying HI

JD is wondering what this is all about.

It was fun night hanging out with the family.
However there there was no score until the last 20 seconds!
So the game was kinda dull. There wasn't even a bloody fight or anything.

That was our day in a nut shell.

Grandpa's funeral 08/29/09

I don't know what I did to make all these pictures blurry... but, if you click on them to open them in another browser, they are mostly clear.

This arrangement was perfect for my Grandpa. He was not a flowery kind of guy. He was a cowboy. These were his boot, hat, rope, and his brand.

It may seem strange to some people to see his body and to have an open casket. A lot of people are cremated these days. However, it was such a comfort to see him for the last time! To know that he was not in his body any more and was in Heaven.

All the Grandchildren had boutonnieres that we laid on
his casket when we buried him.
This was mine.

My Dad gave a speech about my Grandpa. It was so hard for him, but he did awesome! Dad mentioned how Grandpa made a lot of sacrifices so that his family could go to Church every Sunday and how he taught his children to love the Lord. My Dad has done the same thing with his kids. I pray with all my heart that I can raise my family the same way, to teach them what should come first in their lives.

I had no idea we were taking his body to the cemetery in a horse and buggy.
It was absolutely perfect!

It's not very clear in this picture but you can see my Grandma and Grandpa's name there.
LAVERNE MARIE JOHN FRANKLYN

It was a wonderful tribute to an amazing Godly man.

Grandpa Hendricks 4/21/1910-8/24/2009

This picture was in my very first blog, and today I have to post it again. My Grandpa passed away this morning. My dad's dad. Peacefully. In his sleep. He had 99 years on him and was just ready to go and see Jesus. My Aunt Grace was there. The nurses had been in about an hour earlier. They asked him how he felt. He said he felt good. Then at 8:20 am Aunt Grace went to wake him up and he would not wake up, she got the nurses and they told her they thought he was gone. (He was in a nursing home.)
Grandpa was ready to go. Death is a part of living. Everyone dies, yet death is still so hard. It is comforting to know he is in Heaven with Jesus, Grandma, many friends, grandchildren, siblings, and lots of other people he knew.
